Install LAKSMED on Google TV / Android TV
Google TV, Android TV and Fire TV devices use the same official LAKSMED app as Android phones, with an interface built for the remote.
1. Allow installing the app
Televisions block apps from outside their store until you allow it. Menu names vary by manufacturer; these are the usual ones:
- Google TV: Settings → System → About, then select Android TV OS build seven times to enable developer options. Then Settings → Apps → Security & restrictions → Unknown sources, and allow the app you will install from.
- Android TV: Settings → Device preferences → Security & restrictions → Unknown sources.
- Fire TV: Settings → My Fire TV → Developer options → Install unknown apps.
2. Get the file onto the TV
Use one of these:
- On the TV: open a browser or downloader app on the TV, go to laksmed.com/download, and download the Android file.
- From a computer: with developer options and network debugging on, run
adb connect <tv-ip-address>and thenadb install laksmed-<version>.apk.
3. Open LAKSMED
- Open LAKSMED from the apps row. Your 2-day free trial starts.
- Connect your provider using the remote. Every screen works with the remote alone, and Back always goes back.
Once LAKSMED is installed, you can turn developer options and unknown sources off again.
